Near Potsdamer Platz, the buildings at Lennéstraße 3 and 5 form two distinct solitaire structures within a series of five typologically related buildings. Both projects combine technical innovation with a precise, minimalist architectural language, while pursuing different design approaches.

The ten-story building at Lennéstraße 5 openly expresses its tectonic structure: the columns integrated into the façade taper upwards, while the fully glazed north façade forms a “window to the park.” Its silver-metallic materiality distinguishes the building from its stone-clad neighbors and gives it an elegant lightness. Principles borrowed from automotive design were adapted for the façade development, resulting in a highly refined and coherent façade concept.

Completed later, the building at Lennéstraße 3 consistently advances the idea of architectural “dematerialization.” The vertical structural elements are concealed behind the façade, leaving only horizontal floor slabs and floor-to-ceiling glazing visible from the outside. In collaboration with industry partners, a custom all-glass façade system without separate parapets was developed, enabling exceptional spatial efficiency. The abstract, transparent appearance recalls minimalist sculptures by Donald Judd.

Together, the two buildings exemplify an architecture that combines structural precision, technical innovation, and conceptual clarity to create a distinctive architectural quality.

The project was developed by CollignonArchitektur, which has been part of planquadrat Elfers Geskes Krämer since 2025.
