Olympic bid presented to sports federations
A vision for the north of Cologne
On 26th June, the KölnRheinRuhr bid for the Olympic and Paralympic Games was presented at the Flora in Cologne. In front of representatives of the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB), the leading Olympic federations, and guests from the worlds of politics, business and sport, those in charge outlined the key elements of the bid. Speakers included, amongst others, North Rhine-Westphalia’s Minister-President Hendrik Wüst, Cologne’s Lord Mayor Torsten Burmester, and representatives of the participating cities and institutions.
Our Managing Director, Herbert Elfers, outlined the vision for the stadium and the Olympic and Paralympic Village in the north of Cologne. The concept views the Olympic and Paralympic Games as the starting point for long-term urban development. An athletics stadium, the Olympic and Paralympic Village and a new urban district are to be built around Kreuzfeld and Chorweiler.
