The arch form of the hall represents the most material saving possibility of being able to span a range of 180 metres without columns. This is strengthened by replacing the roof support structure with trussed rafters. The three-storey plinth building, that accommodated the workshops, storage and office rooms, serve as abutments so that no additional foundation expenses are incurred. Moreover, the system is characterised by a favourably ratio between space and volume, easy extensibility and a high level of flexibility in the positioning of the aircraft.
