The former central post office was to be converted into rental space for various office uses after the post office moved out in 2015. With 60,000m2 of rental space, it is the largest office building in Darmstadt. In order to create a basis for the continued use of the building, planquadrat drew up a new development plan. This formed the basis for a change of use application. planquadrat then developed a new utilisation concept for several utilisation units, each 400 m2 in size, from the campus structure optimised for the post office. The central theme was the creation of new building entrances to form an address.

The utilisation concept envisages new access cores that are recognisable inside and out with a uniform appearance and complement the existing central entrance hall. From July 2017 to October 2020, rental areas were created for the HUB 31 start-up centre, a fitness area, interim space for the regional council and, in the short term, for a vocational school.
