Master Plan Ingelheim
Ingelheim
- Planning time: 2010
- Building contractor: Stadt Ingelheim
Presented with the ULI Award for Excellence 2018
Ingelheim lacks an identifying centre. The city used this opportunity to create a new, attractive centre and at the same time to compact the existing structure.
An overall image for the city centre is being developed with the urban framework planning for the city centre of Ingelheim, taking into account the diverse players, plans and questions in order to achieve the following goals: there is a core area along Bahnhofstrasse and the circular route within the city centre whose image, diversity of functions and user traffic will create an autonomous, urban character in future. The usages relevant to the centre, such as the further training centre, the media library, the culture hall are located with the aim of strengthening this inner city character.
Through the combination of new retail constructions, a strengthening of the public space and the realisation of the new usages, an attractive city centre will develop, whose identification potential represents a creatively powerful and tangible supplement to the pronounced district identities of Ingelheim. The framework planning is considered to be a strategic plan that will integrate various individual measures into an overall concept in future and will thus make a decisive contribution to a sustainable and long-term change process in the city centre of Ingelheim.
