On a warm May evening, many art enthusiasts in the PQ team took a tour of seven Frankfurt galleries together, where they had the opportunity to talk directly to the artists of the works on display.
Our competition team was exceptionally successful this year, winning a total of five first prizes and one second prize - for projects in Kassel, Darmstadt, twice in Heidelberg, Mainz and Niederdorfelden.
On the occasion of Architecture Day, which traditionally takes place on the last weekend in June, we presented the new residential neighbourhood in Kleyerstraße in Frankfurt's Gallusviertel district to the interested public.
At the end of June, the Frankfurt team organised an architectural walk for us through the Ostend district and along Hanauer Landstrasse. Afterwards, we rounded off the evening in a beer garden on the other bank of the River Main.
One of the highlights of the year was the big PQ summer party, which kicked off in mid-July with a champagne reception on Platz der Deutschen Einheit in Darmstadt with the very best weather and then continued into the early hours of the morning in our atmospherically decorated offices and on the two large outdoor terraces - with delicious food, chilled drinks, a DJ and live music.
Our steadily growing capital city team moved from Moabit to spacious, centrally located offices in Charlottenburg at the end of July. The new premises at Uhlandstraße 175 were inaugurated at a reception at the beginning of September.
After an interruption due to the pandemic, our Future Panel went into the next round this year. This year's topics of the office-internal format with a forward-looking focus were New Work, sustainable building with wood and clay as well as monument preservation and energy saving.
On this year's office outing, we travelled to the Palatinate at the beginning of September. First, we hiked through the picturesque vineyards near St. Martin before fortifying ourselves in an old estate with excellent Palatinate cuisine and delicious Riesling for the afternoon programme, which took us on a city tour including ice cream in the medieval town of Freinsheim.
At the beginning of October, we were once again represented at EXPO REAL in Munich as a partner of the City of Science Darmstadt - the largest European gathering of the property industry and therefore the most important industry event of the year.
Also in October, Holzhofpark in Darmstadt received an award in the ‘Neighbourhood Development’ category of the German Housing Award. The project was documented in a lavishly designed publication and shown in an exhibition at the Haus der Architektur in Munich.
