Darmstadt's residential palace is being completely renovated after the university and state library moved out. In future the committee, parts of the central administration and some library rooms of the Technical University of Darmstadt are to be accommodated there.

planquadrat is taking over the new planning and renovation of the baroque palace wing facing the market square. Former library and magazine rooms, among other things, are being converted here into spacious and attractive offices. In some storeys the high storey heights are being used to take on a second level. On a type of house-in-house principle, offices are being cautiously added to the structure as wooden constructions that correspond to the high monumental conservation requirements.

In the course of this renovation, the renewal of the technical facilities, such as electrical installations, media technology, ventilation, sanitary and heated are being carried out.
